Privacy Policy for MilesOn

Last Updated: July 2026

MilesOn (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the MilesOn application.

MilesOn is a car trip-meter app for EV and ICE drivers. It does not require an account, and it does not collect your name, email, contacts, or photos.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

None. MilesOn has no sign-in and no forms.

1.2 Location

MilesOn uses your device’s location to estimate the distance you drive for each trip meter. On Android, when your phone’s Bluetooth connects to your car, MilesOn automatically starts recording GPS-estimated distance in the background and stops when Bluetooth disconnects, so meters keep counting driven distance across every trip without you opening the app. Location is used on-device to calculate distance; we do not store or transmit your location to our own servers.

1.3 Trip Meter Data

Trip meters you create (names, reset history) are stored locally on your device. This data stays on your device and is not uploaded to us.

1.4 Vehicle Diagnostic Data (OBD2)

MilesOn optionally connects over Bluetooth to a user-supplied OBD2 adapter plugged into your vehicle’s diagnostic port. When connected, it reads standard and vehicle-specific diagnostic data — odometer reading, speed, and (on supported EVs) battery state of charge and charging status — to provide a more accurate, tire-size-independent distance source and to detect charging sessions. This data is processed on-device only, used to calculate distance and charging intervals for your trip meters, and is not stored on or transmitted to our servers.

1.5 Diagnostics and Usage Data

On Android, MilesOn uses Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous crash reports and aggregate usage data (for example, app version, device model, operating system version, and app-open events). This helps us diagnose stability problems and improve the app. It is not used to identify you personally.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited data described above only to:

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not build user profiles.

3. Data Storage and Security

Trip meter data and preferences are stored locally on your device. Diagnostic data sent to Firebase is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we limit collection to what is described here.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your information. Anonymous diagnostic and usage data is processed by Google Firebase on our behalf as described above. We do not share data with any other third parties.

5. Third-Party Services

MilesOn uses Google Firebase (Crashlytics and Analytics) for crash reporting and anonymous usage analytics, and on-device location services to estimate driven distance. These services have their own privacy policies governing how they handle data.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.
